Lately Tissot, which is a watch brand, has been more in the news for one of its spokespeople than it has been for its actual watches, and that's all just fine with Tissot. Smart marketing is subliminal marketing; people don't like to be told what to buy, so the key is to send an indirect, direct message. Get it? If not, who cares, the point is it works and we as consumers like seeing and hearing racy new ad campaigns, especially when they involve hot chicks.
Whether sales of Tissot watches have actually risen or not in the past few months is important to those running the Swiss watch company, but what is perhaps more valuable is the buzz around the brand and its products. Tissot produces about two million watches a year; that's a lot of watches and recently the company has found a new fan base in India and opened a boutique there. Smart move; in a country that size, they could probably sell every one of the two million watches they produce there!
It doesn't hurt that Tissot hired one of India's most beautiful women to represent the brand and attend store openings, etc. Model turned Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is gorgeous and is the first Indian to become a "Face of Tissot".
Another one of Tissot's pretty faces is Danica Patrick. We all know who she is. She's a race car driver; the first woman to win an Indy car race and just continues to burn rubber whenever she's behind the wheel. In honor of her achievements, Tissot created a limited edition line of Danica Patrick T-Touch watches.
Cars are not the only thing that Danica knows how to heat up. She's quite hot when it comes to photo shoots as well; always wearing a Tissot watch if practically nothing else. The 4 page spread of her for Tissot already came out in the September issue of GQ magazine, now there are rumors that she''' do another one, with nothing on, for ESPN The Magazine. The magazine is doing an October issue called "The Body" that will feature naked athletes. No one knows for sure yet, but Danica did pose for Sports Illustrated this year and in a teeny tiny bikini, she's practically naked, so stay tuned.
Tissot watches for reflect the "live hard, play hard" attitude, which is probably why the Tissot Touch was worn in the movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith". How could Tissot, who probably pitched the producers to have its watches worn in the flick, have known that the movie would go down in a certain "hall of fame?" "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" will forever be famous not because it was the best movie of all time, but because it was where Angelina and Brad met and started their fling which ended his marriage and sparked their hot romance.
Now, after all this steamy talk, let's get back to basics: dollars and cents. Tissot watches are very reasonably priced. If you search around the Internet for Tissot watches, you can find, for around $500, a very cool watch, that if you can figure out all the techy stuff, can do a zillion things. With many styles, shapes and colors to choose from, a Tissot watch is a fun watch to wear and won't break the bank.
